I provide individual psychotherapy to adolescents and adults. If you decide to enter therapy with me, we will work together to determine an integrative and personalized treatment that meets your unique needs. I have extensive training in a variety of therapeutic approaches and techniques, and I work carefully to integrate these methods to tailor treatment to my individual patient’s needs. My flexible approach to psychotherapy allows me help people struggling with a spectrum of emotional concerns and life transitions.
My doctoral training emphasized psychoanalytic models of therapy, which facilitate insight and self-awareness. I also incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical-behavioral therapy (DBT) and mindfulness techniques into psychotherapy. These techniques emphasize building coping skills, examining and altering negative patterns of thinking or behavior, and using mindfulness techniques to foster moment-to-moment awareness of one's experience without judgment. I have specialized training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a therapeutic approach that treats symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences, including trauma.
I aspire to create a therapeutic space where you will feel safe and comfortable. I believe that a positive therapeutic relationship is at the heart of successful treatment. I view trust, honesty, and humor as key ingredients to forming an effective working relationship with my patients.
